Lesser Town Prague Czech Republic
The Lesser Town is also called Little Quarter (Malá Strana) and is located across the river from the Old Town. The name comes from its position on the west bank of the river, in contrast to the larger town of Prague on the east bank.
Our first Glimpse of the Lesser Town. It is not nearly as crowded on this side. But it is still full of interesting places to see.
While climbing up toward the Prague Castle, I turned around to get this picture.
The Prague castle sits on a hill overlooking Lesser Town. It is one of the largest ancient castles in the world. For centuries, the kings of Bohemia ruled from here. Today, it is used by the President of the Czech Republic.
A view inside the Prague Castle complex.
The tallest and most remarkable building inside the Prague Castle complex is the St. Vitus Cathedral.
This Gothic Cathedral contains the tomb of King Wenceslas I of Bohemia, a.k.a. “Good King Wenceslas”(from the Christmas Carol).
The scenic overlook of the Lesser Town after leaving the Prague Castle on the east end.
View of Lesser Town, Vltava River, and Prague Bridges.
Tune in tomorrow for a walk through Prague.
