An Authentic Spanish Feast
Recently, our friends Chris and Carol treated us to an authentic Spanish feast. Two local cooks came to our casa with all the necessary ingredients and began a whirlwind of cooking.
Nieves & Isabel, our wonderful cooks, took a moment during preparation for a quick photo. The wonderful smells coming from the kitchen had me wandering in several times to see what was happening.
Our feast started with Porra fria, a local version of gazpacho. It was surprisingly thick, rich, and delicious!
Next a tapas of bacon wrapped dates. What an interesting and delicious combination.
Merluza en salsa verde, hake in green sauce.
Albondigas, fresh traditional Spanish meatballs in sauce.
Croquetas, with bits of bacon and cheese. Yummy
Calamares in su tinta negros, calamares in their own ink. We had heard that this is a delicious food to try in Spain. So we tried them with a bit of trepidation. But they were surprisingly good.
So much good food. We were all stuffed and there was enough left overs for several more meals.
Such a fun and memorable experience! I love trying new things and I love big dinners with friends! This was an amazing night!
Big thanks to Chris and Carol! Not only for this feast, but also for being such adventurous, fun friends!
That was such an incredible evening! We have said countless times since we left how amazing that we all got a long. I see lots of memory making in the future!
Yes! Can’t wait!
Oh what fun! That will be something to remember always
Yes, that is so true. It was a fun taste of Spain and a bit of an adventure as well!
You are all so brave. I think I would have been hungry at the end of the meal. 🙂
what in the world did poor summer eat? LOL
Kim Applegate Anderson, Summer has actually been very adventurous with her food in Spain. She tried some of everything!
wow! You are all more brave than I!
Those calamares are calling my name! Did you get to try the delicious Calimocho? I swear it is the best drink I have ever had and so simple.
I had not heard of Calimocho and had to look it up to find out about it. I had heard of anis mixed with coke, or even lemonade and coke, but red wine and coke? Interesting combination. Although the red wine in Spain is so good, I am not sure I could handle diluting it. But I like to keep an open mind. Thanks for the suggestion.
