Charles Bridge Prague Czech Republic
This bridge is one of the iconic places in Prague. There are some beautiful photos and paintings of this bridge.
Construction of the Charles Bridge began in 1357, under the direction of King Charles IV. The bridge extends over the Vltava River connecting the Old Town to the Lesser Quarter.
The Charles Bridge tower in the picture above is the entrance to the Charles Bridge from the Old Town. You may notice the Gothic architecture of this tower.. The builder of this tower was also the designer for the St. Vitus Cathedral up at Prague Castle (which you will see in the next post).
The bridge is lined with street venders, artists, musicians, and other entertainers.
There are a total of 75 statues along both sides of the bridge.
As you walk across the bridge toward the Lesser Quarter, you start to see the Lesser Town Bridge tower. This is the ancient gate to the Lesser Town, Mala Strana.

After exploring the Lesser Town, we walked back across the Manesuv Most Bridge to get back to the Old Town. The sun was starting to set and so we got some added color to our photos of Charles Bridge.
Sbohem (Czech), goodbye. Until next time. More on Prague coming soon!
