Camping in Stobrec, Croatia
Written by Dave: When we made our way down to Split, we found a nice little camping spot in Stobrec, Croatia. The little village is located near Split and Solin. We arrived just as the off season was beginning. The campsite was clearing out as we came in, and that is just the way we like it. Our camper was about 40 yards from the beach, but there were no waves to hear in the protected waters here.
The campsite had two playgrounds, and Luie took full advantage of each of them. He also made friends with a German family next to us, and spent a lot of time playing with their young son. No common language, but sign language seemed to get them by.
We often like to walk around the areas we visit, so one afternoon we hiked from the campground into Stobrec. Summer and Luie had a nice rest in the shade before continuing on.
Here is the typical bell tower that seems ever present no matter what village you wander into. We always knew what time it was in camp by counting the rings of the bell.
This is a commonly seen dwelling in the small village. This old car was very prevalent, and they all seemed to drive no matter how bad they looked.
There was a lot of beach around us. Typical to Croatia, little sand was to be found, but plenty of rock. It makes for a nice rugged beauty.
Small fishing boats were anchored in the bay. It was shallow enough that when someone wanted to get into one, he just walked out to his boat. It would only be knee deep when you reached your boat.
As we headed back to our camp, the sun was starting to set. The grey rocks of the mountain turned salmon pink until the sun fully set. This was a nice campground to relax in for a while before we made our trip back into the Schengen Zone. Croatia was a wonderful place to visit, and we would love to come back again sometime.
Love those pink rocks as the sun was setting.
Did you buy another camper? Great photos as always. Thanks again for your family’s great website. I am learning so much. Appreciate your diligence and ingenuity!
No, we didn’t buy another camper. As it is getting colder, a camper isn’t our best choice unless we were heading south. We leased a car, and it is much quicker to move around now.
