Views from Marjan in Split Croatia
Hard to resist a hike that promises wonderful views.
From the promenade you can see the hill of Marjan off to the west.
Without a map, we just started walking toward the hill and climbing up steps. As long as we were going up, we figured we would get there eventually. And we did!
The steps start in the city and continue through the forest. We started counting steps, but lost count after 577. But if I were to make a guess, there was probably another 500 steps.
There is a playground, zoo, and picnic areas at the top.
Sea and island views.
We came prepared with a picnic lunch. Good thing, because we worked up an appetite on the hike up.
Amazing views! Totally worth the climb.
The Croatian flag at the very top. Summer and Luie rest their climbing legs.
You can see the bell tower of Diocletian’s palace in the left 1/3 of the photo above.
On the way down the hill, we took a different path and found a tiny little church. We also found a sidewalk instead of steps. And walked down the rest of the way using the sidewalk. Beautiful views the whole way down.
