Camping in Motovun Croatia
This was our spot to rejuvenate, work on projects, and enjoy the Croatian summer. In fact we now hold the record for the longest stay campers. It became a joke with the locals wondering how long we were going to stay. The previous record was 2 weeks, but we stayed 7.
This is a small and simple campground, but it became very special to us. We made wonderful local friends, as well as fellow campers passing through. We enjoyed fresh organic fruits and vegetables everyday. We hiked and swam and thoroughly enjoyed our time!
The photo below shows our camper on the left and a shot of the rest of the campground area for caravans and campers. And in the distance there are three levels of grassy area for tent campers. Amazingly, we also met 3 other couples from the US during our stay.
The above photo shows the nice covered/shaded deck area that had the wifi reception. We spent many hours working in this area.
Hiking up the hill to Motovun and the Hotel Kastel, we spent many hot summer afternoons cooling off in the swimming pool. The hotel and campground are affiliated, so the pool is free to campers.
If you do go to Motovun, please stop and give a friendly hello to beautiful, colorful, Maja. She was extremely nice and helpful to us and became a good friend.
The photo above is taken in the little market a block from the campground. We went there everyday for our fresh food. The people got to know us and even shared a recipe for a local dish. As you can see, Luie was a big favorite at the store.
We also loved this fresh produce market, which was about 700 meters up the hill from the campground. It is a friendly family run market and totally worth the hike up.
Ciao, from Croatia!
