Exploring Nice France
The famous Hotel Negresco is 100 years old. It is right on the Promenade des Anglais overlooking the Mediterranean.
Like all the other beaches that we have noticed in the Cote d’Azure, the beach is pretty rocky and so cushioned beach mats are sold at the touristy shops.
We walked through some of the Italian district and the old town before hiking up Castle hill.
There is a large park at the top along with a place to eat and a souvenir shop.
They were having a festival on the day we went up. There was music, dancing, painting, boothes, and lots of people enjoying the day.
The top of the hill has amazing panoramic views of the city and the sea.
We did not realize just how big the city of Nice was until we saw it from the top of the hill. It turns out that it is the 5th largest city in France with a population of about one million.
There is also a waterfall on the hill. It can be seen from old town. We had to wander around a bit before we found it though. The fine mist coming off the waterfall, was cooling on the warm day.
Luie couldn’t resist climbing on the big ropey thing.
He was pretty happy to get to the top after negotiating through all the other kids.
Isn’t this a great view of the Promenade des Anglais!
More cities to explore in the Cote d’Azure, wait until you see where we go next!
Lucy said her favorite picture was the one of Luie on the top! 🙂 He looked pretty proud. Looks like a beautiful place.
