The April Fair in Seville Spain
About 3 weeks after Easter, Seville has an April Fair. This is a celebration of Andalucia. There are streets lined with private tents that have local food, drinks, music, and of course Flamenco dancing.
We had been noticing many women around Seville dressed in Flamenco dresses. We did not know whether this was just part of the way of life in Seville or not. But after some research we learned that we were actually in Seville during the week long April Fair! Awesome! Of course we had to check it out.
Window displays showed beautiful Flamenco dresses for young and old.
Many horse drawn carriages provided rides for Fair goers.
While most of the tents at the fair are marked with the names of the families or groups that host that private party tent, there are a few that are open to the public. So we took the opportunity to sit down have a drink and watch the Flamenco dancing.
We saw dancers ranging in age from 3 years to up to 80 years old, and we loved seeing the tradition and community. There are several things about Spain that really show strong family ties. The afternoon siesta, the evening stroll, and even this April Fair. We love the sense of community and family from these traditions.
Sometime you will have to share some of your fav spots in Spain. You guys are doing what alot of people never can, good for you!!!
