Gibraltar vs Cyprus Rugby Match
Written by Dave:
On a rainy weekend in Gibraltar, the family went to take in a rugby match. We felt that it was something that needed to be experienced while we were here. The kids, who are not all that excited about sports, were excited to see the match. Even with the rain, they were excited to go. So we grabbed our umbrellas and headed out.
Luie has seen American football, so he was interested in how the game was played. The problem is, I have no idea. I have to admit that this was the first rugby match I had ever seen. It was fun to watch something new.
With no pads, and few wearing a thin helmet like hood, it was apparent that this was a tough man’s sport. There were times when someone would be injured, and the game would continue while he was being attended to on the field.
I had never seen a human pyramid set up in a game when a ball was being thrown into play.
Here is a view of the Rock of Gibraltar in the background. It was a very picturesque stadium.
When it was all over, Gibraltar had beaten Cyprus by a score of 36 – 10. Some time I will have to look up the rules to see how it is played, so next time I can watch with a bit more informed mind. It was still good fun, and we had a great time cheering on Gibraltar with the locals.
Luie you look so grown up, looked like a fun game to watch.
