I always enjoy reading books about the places we are traveling to. Not just travel books, although I love those too. But true stories or novels as well. These books are not only entertaining, but give insight into the culture of the area. I recently read the book Chickens, Mules, and two Old Fools, about a couple from England who move to southern Spain.
While reading, I would often laugh out loud and the family always wanted to know what was so funny. So I soon began reading out loud after breakfast. It didn’t take long before everyone was hooked. There was a section (about chickens) that I changed a name and skimmed past some of the antics, since Luie is a bit young for that info. The book is the true story of Vicky and Joe Twead and includes photos. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. There are also a number of recipes included at the end of the book. We got the book through Amazon for our Kindle. One thing that I love about Amazon is that when you look up a book, there are recommendations of other books under the heading: Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought. So as a result, I now have books ready for France, Italy, and Turkey. I just have to be patient and not read them until we are in the country.
If you do read this book, please comment below. I would love to hear what you thought of the book!
