Written by Dave. On our way through California, we took the long way back through Joshua Tree National Park. We were interested in seeing these unique trees. We didn’t have a lot of time in the park, but we made the most of it.
It was quite a surreal landscape, with the unique rock formations and Dr. Seuss like trees. We came in near sunset, so everything was covered in long shadows.
The lookout over the Salton Sea and San Andreas Fault was beautiful. It provided a nice backdrop to take photos of the kids.
As evening set in, the whole park started to take on a more surreal view. It was beautiful.
The trees in silhouette from the sunset were quite stunning.
What we don’t have photos of, but was very impressive, was the complete blackness of the sky in Joshua Tree. “There was no moon, and the Milkyway way stunning. Shooting stars were everywhere, and we had to stop the car 3 different times to just look up in the sky. It was an unforgettable experience.
