Swimming pools, movie stars!  Wait, I think that is part of a theme song.  Anyway, how fun to go to Hollywood!  My cousin said that it was worth going just to see the “interesting” people down there.  If we would have had more time, I totally would have wanted to take one of the tours.  There were lots of tours to choose from, including:  movie star homes, famous hot spots, old Hollywood, etc.

This first picture is actually taken at Universal Studios.  We were not actually crazy enough to stop on the highway and take this shot.  If you asked Dave about the traffic of the L.A. area, he would tell you that it was worth seeing everything once, but he wouldn’t want to do it very often.

This is the view from the van.  I can’t seem to resist  palm tree lined streets.

We made it to Hollywood Blvd.  but finding parking was a little tricky.  Fortunately my cousin, told us to park at the Kodak Theater,  so we didn’t have too much trouble.  The famous Grauman’s Chinese Theater is right next door.  Seeing those foot and hand prints is pretty inspiring!

Dave tries his hands in Adam Sandler’s  hand prints.

Summer and I check our hands in Tom Hanks’ hand prints and Luie in his foot prints.

Summer is a huge fan of the I Love Lucy show.  She thinks it is hilarious and loves to watch old episodes with Luie.  So they were both excited to pose with the wax Lucy.

Rodeo Drive.  Yup, we had to check it out.  And it was just as posh as you would expect.

This is the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.  Remember the movie Pretty Women?

Definitely worth the visit.  But I was surprised by the take away that I left with.  First, I had no desire to go into any of the stores.  More stuff would just clutter up my life and I place more value in people and experiences than in things.  Second, I am enormously wealthy because I don’t need anything.  I already have it all!  Love you guys!

  1. Your words remind me of Volker Ritzinger’s words when I thanked him for his generous donation of 300 loaves of bread for the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation of America fund-raiser. He said, “No matter how much money you have, you can’t eat with three spoons at a time.” He said he loved to give because we’re all connected with each other and we need to help one another.
