Disneyland after Labor Day is the way to go. Short lines and easier to get from place to place. We were prepared with granola bars, trail mix, and water bottles. Sometimes, you are just too busy having fun to stop and eat. We did all the rides in the park that we wanted to do. Which ended up being most of the rides. Luie did get scared on several of them. But he got over it quickly and was a good sport.
The train was right by the entrance and Luie was immediately drawn to it. We only rode it a short way, but Luie loved it.
Here is Dave and Summer on the Matterhorn. You can tell this is an older roller coaster. It was very jerky and not at all smooth like the newer ones.
Mr. Toad’s wild ride. Dave remembers this as a favorite when he was 7 years old. Which made it fun for him to ride again with his kids. Our wonderful neighbors, Steve and Annette, gave Luie the book, The Wind and The Willows. So Luie was also familiar with the characters and also found this to be a special ride.
Oh Dumbo. Luie loved this ride, but it was the only ride that got Dave a little queasy. Just too much spinning.
The Winnie the Pooh ride was Luie’s most favorite. He had to do it several times. So when he saw the characters he was thrilled. Summer would never have even considered meeting the characters, when she was younger. But look at Luie’s face. He is so happy! He ran to each of them with his arms open for a hug.
This is the swinging bridge from Tarzan’s tree house.
Summer and Luie were both excited about a chance to drive us around. There was a center rail that helped to keep the car somewhat in the right lane. But the kids are in control of the gas and the steering wheel. Summer had a few jolting over corrections, but it was fun. Luie, however, jerked Dave around so much, that Dave had to grab the wheel and help many times. We had to laugh when one of the workers asked Luie to stop the car so he could check the steering. Luie was banging so hard from side to side that Dave felt pretty shaken up after that ride.
Still smiling at the end of a long day. But certainly ready for bed.
Summer’s top 3 rides include: Peter Pan, Splash mountain, and Autotopia.
Luie’s top 3 were: Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Lightyear, and Dumbo
Dave’s top 3 were: Thunder Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, and Peter Pan. Indiana Jones and Space Mountain were closed for maintenance, so didn’t get to try those.
Nancy’s were: Peter Pan, Buzz Lightyear, and Thunder Mountain. I’m not much into rides but Peter Pan was a nice gentle ride. Buzz Lightyear kept me distracted with shooting lazers and trying to get more points than Dave. And Thunder Mountain was a fast train roller coaster, but it was pretty cool.
hahaha. thank goodness Luie won’t be getting his license soon! 🙂 I guess you know now that he’ll need lots of practice. 🙂
So very true!
