Universal Studios Hollywood. Dave had a feeling that there would be lots to see and do at Universal, so he got us an annual pass. There are shows, rides, characters, tours, etc. So we were happy to have unlimited days to go back.
One of our favorite shows was the Animal Actors. This dog is from the movie Marley and Me. The little boy on the floor was a volunteer from the audience. Luie had his hand raised and wanted to be chosen so badly. When we went back to Universal, he requested to go back to the animal show so that he could try to be the little boy volunteer. Sadly we didn’t make it back.
The Universal back lot tour is always fun. They take you past the studios and through the outdoor scene and building props. The photo above is the building used for the movie Back to the Future. There were old west sets, New York City sets, European sets, etc. There are also little adventures along the tour. The 4D King Kong show was really good. Then there was also driving into a subway station and experiencing an earthquake complete with trucks falling through the roof and pipes bursting and flooding the area. Luie was a little concerned until we explained that it was all pretend.
This is a crash site from the movie War of the Worlds.
This is the action packed Water World show. Full of stunts, fireworks, and adventure.
The Jurassic Park ride was a favorite for Summer and Dave. I think Summer just liked getting wet. But after the ride, she said she really wanted to see the movie.
Many kids were too scared to pose with the characters. But not Luie. When he saw a character he immediately asked to get a picture with it. We weren’t sure if Luie would be able to do much at Universal, since he was too short for several of the rides. But he had a great time and Summer said it was her second favorite theme park.
You are so brave, Luie!
