Segway Experience Málaga Spain

The Segway Málaga Experience offers a tour around some of the sites of Malaga.  What a fantastic and fun way to tour around.

They are conveniently located near the harbor at Pier 1.  So it was easy for us to find them.  They also rent electric bikes.

We met our tour guide, Sergio, and he assured us that our little Luie would do just fine riding on the segway.  He taught us each what to do and gave us some time to practice before starting our tour.  This was our first time riding segways.

Luie was the first to try, and he was such a big boy, listening to the instructions and being extra careful.  We were all so impressed.

I was the next to try.  I bobbed and jerked and made the whole family laugh.  But Sergio kindly told me that I was pushing on the handles instead of just leaning forward.  Once I realized what I was doing, I smoothed right out.  Dave and Summer did just fine.  And soon we were off on our tour.

Doesn’t it look like fun!  Oh my goodness, we loved it!  This is such a smooth and easy ride!

I noticed that a lot of people watched or pointed at Luie as we passed.  I think they were impressed with this little guy cruising along so easily.

When it came time to cross the street, I must admit I was a bit nervous.  Especially since I needed my concentration to maneuver myself, but what about Luie?

My concerns were quickly put to rest without me even saying anything.  Sergio expertly helped guide Luie across the street.

Malaga Cathedral

Our first site on the tour was the Malaga Cathedral.  Sergio volunteered to take a family picture, which was so nice, since it is usually me taking the shot and not being in the photo.

An interesting fact about the Malaga Cathedral.  There are two towers, but only one of them is completed.  The other tower was never completed because the funds that were raised for the completion were instead used to help the British colonies (the USA) gain their independence.

Roman ampitheater Malaga

The above photo shows the Roman amphitheater, which was only discovered in the 1950’s buried under ground.  There has been some restoration work done, so that it could be used for concerts or other performances.

This glass pyramid shows more Roman ruins that were buried underground.

We are having such a good time smoothly riding around and grinning to each other.

Here we are sitting by Picasso.  He was born in the building behind us (the one on the right).

Malaga also has a Picasso Museum.

Our tour continued up a hill, where there was an excellent view of the city.  Above you can see the bullring.

I love this view of the harbor, park, lighthouse, and Mediterranean.

Luie leans forward to go fast

Luie was really loving this and he gained more confidence the more he got used to it.  Being shorter, he really leans into it to pick up speed.  And let me tell you, that little guy could really go.

Summer on Segway

Summer said she was a little nervous at first, but by the end, she was loving it.

tour guide Sergio from Segway Malaga Experience

Our tour guide, Sergio, was excellent.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time.  Now, the whole family is hooked. It is just so fun!

I asked Sergio if Luie was the youngest person he had ever taken on tour, and to my surprise the answer was no.  He has taken a 5 year old and an 84 year old and all ages in between!  That is just awesome!  Sergio moved to Malaga from the Canary Islands.  He taught himself French, English, and Russian.  He completely loves taking people on tours, which is why he is a great guide.  During high season, the segway tours are understandably very popular and he does about 20 tours every day.

  1. Hi.
I’m coming to Nerja this May to celebrate the San Isidro Fiesta. Our Spanish friends want us to walk in the parade through Nerja.
My problem is that I have lost a leg and am not able to walk so far. Will it be possible to rent a Segway for 1 day from you ? Of course we will pick up and bring the Segway from / to your address.
